Are your pallets post-Brexit ready?

If your business relies on imports and exports between the UK and the EU, then you need to be prepared for post-Brexit Britain.

If you’re a Goplasticpallets’ customer, then you’ll already know that your plastic pallets don’t need to be heat treated to make the journey from the UK to the EU.

However, if you’re still using timber pallets, from 1st January 2021 all wood pallets traveling between the UK and the EU must be heat treated in accordance with ISPM15 regulations if the UK leaves the EU without a reciprocal trade deal.

Despite the wood pallet industry’s best effort to ramp up heat treatment output, there is concern that the UK simply does not have enough kilns or capacity to ensure all the timber pallets in circulation are heat treated in time. And with approximately 250 million in use, this is going to be a rather tall order!
