goplasticpallets.com makes a stand by investing in new adjustable desks

When you consider the average employee spends more than 150 hours at work every month, it is absolutely vital for businesses to prioritise a supportive working environment – and that extends beyond the occasional packet of Digestive biscuits.

Not only should there be a focus on professional development and opportunities to progress, but companies should be investing in practices, initiatives or equipment that have a positive impact on employees’ physical and mental health.

At goplasticpallets.com, we are striving to do just that. As part of our commitment to creating a workspace that encourages productivity, comfort, and health, we’ve recently invested in nine innovative, height-adjustable desks for our team – and they love them!

Stand up desks for the team

These new desks give employees the flexibility of switching between sitting and standing throughout the day, supporting a more dynamic routine. This latest investment is just one small part of what makes our company a fantastic place to work, where we value not only professional growth but also the wellbeing of our people.

Earlier this year, our Sales Director Dan Starnes spoke to the wider team on how we could enrich our office space. While the overall consensus was that we already provided a comfortable working environment, one colleague suggested they would like the opportunity to move more regularly during the day to help with their posture. Dan took the feedback on board and began to explore different options to help – and adjustable desks proved to be the most popular choice, so much so, we purchased nine of them!

By installing these desks, our team will enjoy a number of health benefits:

Improved posture: Sitting for long periods can lead to poor posture, which may cause back pain over time. The team can now adjust the height of the desks to combat this, or work whilst standing for periods of the day.

Boosts energy levels: Sitting for hours can make anyone feel sluggish. Standing periodically throughout the day encourages blood flow and keeps energy levels more consistent.

Enhanced focus and productivity: Studies have shown that standing can help improve focus and mental clarity. A recent study claimed that 87% of those who switched to a standing desk reported increased energy levels.

Burning calories: Using a standing desk for certain periods of the day can help to burn calories. In fact, a report by the University of Chester says that you will burn around 144 extra calories each day if you work at a standing desk for three hours. That’s the equivalent of two of those digestive biscuits we mentioned earlier!

Encourages regular movement: A standing desk encourages subtle movements, such as shifting weight or stretching, which can prevent stiffness and enhance circulation. According to recent research, regular movement is vital throughout the day, and we encourage staff to switch between sitting and standing, as well as getting some fresh air!

Jim Hardisty, Managing Director, said: “Our team members are at the heart of everything we do. We know that a positive and supportive workplace doesn’t just make for a happier team – it also leads to better performance, greater motivation, and overall job satisfaction. Investing in equipment that helps our colleagues to thrive is a priority, and we actively seek ways to make goplasticpallets.com an even better place to work. With this recent upgrade, we’re focusing on the physical health benefits that can improve how our team feels and works every day. We will continue to listen to feedback from individual team members and implement any changes more widely to benefit everyone.”

As we continue to invest in our team’s health and comfort, we look forward to seeing how these adjustable desks enhance both the work environment and individual wellbeing. It’s all part of our mission to ensure that everyone feels valued and empowered to be successful at work.
